NEW: Update: March 23, 2000

Added an article on ways to build firewall rules using Mason.

Last month, Mason was introduced to you, giving you the ability to produce a packet filtering firewall. With the help of that article, you were able to begin securing your machine while allowing everyone who uses it to be able to do what they need to do. Now let's see if we can't make it so that you do not have to take as long to do this task on another machine with the same or even one with a little different needs.

Update: March 10, 2000

The poll question has been updated with SuSE and TurboLinux as possible answers. The only fair thing was to reset all the votes and start again. I like to thank all of the readers who voted and encourage you to vote again for your favorite distribution. Thank you.

Update: March 9, 2000

We have received a lot of E-Mails regarding this month's poll question missing SUSE and TurboLinux. (four in the morning, no coffee, you do the math *smile* ) We like to apologize for excluding these two fine distributions. We will update the poll question with the inclusion of SUSE and TurboLinux shortly. It was an oversight on our part and we like to apologize to both SUSE, TurboLinux and to all the readers that were kind enough to point out the oversight. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the first issue of LinuxMonth. The reason we decided to launch this site was simple: spread the Linux word and aid in the world domination crusade. *smiile* Our motto is "Linux Articles for Linux Enthusiasts" and we will do our finest to live up to that. We will do our best to make sure that our articles are informative, educational, entertaining and helpful. If you have any suggestions for articles please mail them to: suggestions@www.linuxmonth.com

I want to give a very special thanks to the fine authors of LinuxMonth. Without them LinuxMonth would not be a possibility. The authors are knowledgeable, experienced, and above all kind enough to share their expertise with the rest of us. They have taken time out their very busy schedules to contribute towards the common goal. Thank you very much.

We are still looking for some quality writers to cover various topics. We are looking for someone to take over the "Using Perl" column. The column will cover different topics in Perl. Do you have an opinion about a certain topic? Do you want your two cents heard? Well if you are willing to write it we will make your opinion heard in our "My $0.02" column. (This month's column talks about the real issue with LinuxOne)

If you think you got what it takes to help in conquering the world with the rest of the Linux community, and want to write for LinuxMonth drop us a note at: contributor@www.linuxmonth.com

We know many people like a print edition of the articles. That feature will be available shortly.

Thank you for visiting LinuxMonth. We hope you enjoy the articles. Please send your feedback to feedback@www.linuxmonth.com
